The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
